WHAT DOES "GOOD ENOUGH" MEAN TO YOU?

Good enough can be a cop-out to me. I remember a vehicle commercial that said, "If we all settled for good enough, would things EVER, REALLY, be good enough?" And I echo that question to my readers. This is your chance to respond with your beliefs and thoughts after viewing. You DESERVE to have a VOICE!

So within the realm of music - we owe it to ourselves not to "settle". It's such a counter-productive trait with songwriting, musical learning, and perfect practice are at hand. The threat of not having enough willpower to push past the temporary discomfort of laziness or "hard work" is real. It affects us every day; sometimes, we aren't even aware of it. Which is why it's so important to wake up early before the start of your official day. It gives you leverage!

On the other side of the spectrum, when controlling perfectionist tendencies, there's a song by King Crimson called, "You Have to Be Happy with What You Have to Be Happy With". I think the title alone is awesome and the lyrical melody sounds like something Pink Floyd would've written. The words are trance-like and soothing. And it also brings up a great point; the success and effective behaviors we've learned over time have gotten us to precisely the place where we're at. And that is something to pause about and celebrate.

We've become Musicians with a drive & momentum toward success and joy! We write the soundtracks for the world's lives!!! One song can heal a broken heart. One song can change our state of mind and alter our reality for the better. And our listeners and fans KNOW THIS. They live in the same reality as we do but the only difference is that they don't have the same spiritual gifts as we do.

Know Your Meme: "Weird Al" Yankovic Helps Explain Auto Tune

I remember in 2001-2002 going into the studio with my classic rock band Brilliant Orange and having a few single notes autotuned, but it was described more as a way to assist - AKA auto-correct. Artists like Weird Al as well as the genius Frank Zappa have asked the question, "Does Humor Belong in Music". Obviously, the success of the previously mentioned two has given the world it's answer.

T-Pain was a visionary and saw a marketing opportunity as seized it. He milked it and took advantage of the software but - in a time of over-consumerism, waste and financial IQ meltdown...who's going to stop things like this from happening. This video DOES have a point about fads coming and going in music. From the accidental "SCRATCH" on a vinyl record to mouth percussion and guitar looping stations...creation is at the center. AND CREATE IS WHAT WE DO AS ARTISTS.

How to Network Effectively (IN MUSIC OR ANY OTHER FIELD INVOLVING CREATIVE ART/THOUGHT)

First off, you really have to develop your own personality first before you start trying to sell a product, your artwork, songs or even a service.

Next, you have to believe in the product like you know your name. Like it's a fact.

Then, you need to become animated with it's description - because in life - you sell EVERYTHING. point in case: ever had a friend tell you something interesting and then you told someone else to let them know about it. BAM - that fact was SOLD to you. You believed it - in it even.

So it's the same for almost anything else. Attention is said to be the, MOST BASIC FORM OF LOVE. And when you communicate what your selling or networking about, with a smile - it speaks volumes about everything that's going on behind the scenes of your mind, heart, and gut.

For most people, they will never know what it's like to be 100% passionate and totally committed to something - to the level of mastery. But for people like us (you know who you are), it's just something that we really don't want to choose NOT to do. How can we not - be ourselves. What this comes down to is being true to yourself will allow you to be true to other people. But if you're living a lie - or worse, selling one...then that's where lives start to get incongruent and out of balance.

2010 seems to be a year to gain and maintain a sense of added balance. And what better way to do that than to give back to the people who you care about. Or even reverse of that - pay it forward; makes sure a complete stranger benefits from a talent that you possess, and never communicate with them again. make it completely anonymous. don't give the other person the opportunity to "pay you back".

PAY IT FORWARD.

Teach someone something that will help them to "fish". Find solutions. That's what winners do - they have no other choice but to find success and blessing wherever they go and with whatever they're involved with.
I recommend this book/CD/DVD called Effortless Mastery. It discusses ways to think about loving what you're doing and becoming so enthralled with it all that it becomes fun. It's the farthest thing away from "Work" that you've experienced. It highlights the simplicity of life and the pursuit of happiness and a trade or hobby where you can become a master of something in a new way - something you never thought possible. But the key is that your thoughts on the matter is what this book is focusing on improving. WE, ARE THE CHANGE IN THE WORLD. :o)
