Music has always been there for us.
Now, in recent years, we've begun to take it out of our required classes and curriculums for school districts. They're logic is that people are failing other seriously needed skillsets like math and English. Okay. Sure. Point taken.
Chalk one up for fear and mediocrity.
Now, the real reason children are doing so badly is one. The integrity of cool almost always outrides the precision of smart and efficient. You might be thinking, "what does this fact have to do with music"?
Well.
EVERYTHING!
Studies have shown that students who excel in music will blow almost every other subject out of the water. I think one of our main issues with all this "knowledge" out there is that, we have to learn how to learn better. Learning how to categorize information and quickly recall the useful parts is SO vital in becoming an amazing person. a productive individual of our beautifully diverse culture. All the skeletons of our races and religions aside - we need to care more about the future of music education. we need to PLAY IT FORWARD.
lets. not. standardize. the. standards.
Let children and adults BE who the ARE - become who they really want to be!
Life is hard enough living in the rat race from paycheck to paycheck already. why diffuse the music inside us all by "scare tactics"; that we have to get a "REAL JOB". What is, "a real job"?
Look WHERE we've put the unproductive music...Elevators, automated phone response systems designed to emulate humanistic customer service....
when we get a computer to help, sometimes, we get rid of jobs that really need that genuine element of caring and warm-bloodedness. We need good positive music, EVERYWHERE.
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
