Well, tonight I watched "The Biggest Loser" Finale where Danny, a once in shape rocker destined for "fame and fortune and everything that goes with it", (Queen) has worked his way back to the top by losing over 200 LBS! He not only Survived, but THRIVED.
As the show progressed, he slimmed down inch after inch. It was amazing to watch, even knowing that the once reality show turned movement has been edited to hell and back. Our beloved shredder, Danny, regained control over his battle with weight - the worst enemy to those who know the harsh reality so well.
Maybe & Someday wasn't a phrase that he was willing to agree with this time. He found the power in choice & perseverence. All in all, (he's not just another brick in the wall - no one is!). Now, he has his life back. He'll be able to rock out again on the stage without idiots commenting about his weight & that he could never make it in the music industry as a successful artist. Look at what John Popper has don't for blues vocalists and especially harmonica players. Popper himself lost dozens of pounds. Although, he might have had "lap band" or a simliar surgery.
When the day is done, muscians have a certain spirit to them. We're emotional creatures, heck - we HAVE to be to write unforgettable, timeless masterpieces. The fame and notoriety of those pieces is decided on how many people connect and feel a part of your music and the journey that you've committed to take and succeed at finishing. Ultimately, whether losing weigh or recording musical history, it's up to us as individuals to make the choice, to give our all. And we're fortunate if we have a few "personal trainers" or "music mentors" in our lives that we can confide in & push us to and beyond our known limits. That is what a friend is. Let's be that to a stranger & for the ones we care about. Find a guitar teacher, get some lessons, make some new friends!!! :)
Hope you're smiling everyone. Keep it up.
